The latest draft of Bee Cave's city budget for fiscal year 2018-19, which was presented Tuesday to the City Council, includes more general fund revenue and fewer expenditures compared the city's budget from its previous fiscal year.

The draft only includes the city's general fund, City Manager Travis Askey said, and the council would come back Aug. 14 to discuss details about other city funds.

As of July 19, the city had reached 88.57 percent of its goal in total general fund revenue gain planned for FY 2017-18 and had spent 55.72 percent of budgeted expenditures, according to city documents. Several expenditures will occur before fiscal year 2019 starts, Askey said.

The total revenue in the city's general fund for the next fiscal year is projected at about $9.6 million, approximately $1.15 million more than budgeted revenue from the previous year.

Sales tax revenue for the next fiscal year is projected at $7.5 million and is expected to contribute 79 percent of the total city revenue. Bee Cave's total tax revenue, which includes sales tax, property tax and mixed-drink tax revenues, is estimated at $7.62 million for FY 2018-19.

The total spending scheduled for the next fiscal year is $9.5 million, which is about $265,000 less than budgeted spending from the previous year.

Salary and benefits are expected to remain the largest spending expenditure for the city at about $3.93 million for FY 2018-19, which is about $129,000 more than the budgeted amount from the previous year.

Several additional proposed expenditures could add to Bee Cave's next budget, Askey said, including audio-video equipment for the City Council chambers, an additional engineer position in the city's Planning and Development Department, an increase in police compensation and Parks and Recreations Department software. The preliminary estimated cost for all improvements is between $305,000 and $335,000.

Bee Cave Professional Park site plan approved

The City Council approved a site plan for the proposed Bee Cave Professional Park located at Bee Cave Parkway and Hwy. 71.

The proposed plan includes a 23-foot-tall, one-story building with 7,900 square feet of floor space equipped with parking and utilities as well as other improvements. Half of the building will be used for medical offices, leaving the other half for other offices.

Two driveways would provide access to the office building, city documents show. The existing entrance located at the south side of Bee Cave Parkway across the street from Silverado Bee Cave Memory Care Community would provide a three-way access where left-out access is forbidden. The current entrance to the CVS Pharmacy at the intersection of Bee Cave Parkway and Hwy. 71 can also be used to access Prep School and the office building.

A minimum of 34 parking spaces are required, but the facility will provide 36, two of which comply with the federal Americans with Disabilities Act, city documents state.
