Travis County Water Control and Improvement District 17 today requested its customers turn off their irrigation and automated pool filling systems. The potential for strong winds and heavy rainfall in the area may result in a high possibility of a power outage within the district, and the requested water curtailment is needed to “help ensure a consistent supply of water” in case power is lost, according to a news release. Residents can also conserve water by minimizing the number of showers taken by household members between 7-10 a.m., the release states. WCID 17 serves the Lake Travis areas of Steiner Ranch, Flintrock Falls, Comanche Trail, Serene Hills, Apache Shores and River Ridge.
