Candidates can file for West Lake Hills’ general election from now until Feb. 17
General election candidate packets for West Lake Hills are now available at city hall, 911 Westlake Drive, West Lake Hills. Those interested in running in the election have until Feb. 17 to file.
The city’s general election is scheduled for May 6, and council seats for places one, three and five are up for grabs. Currently Rhonda McCollough, Stan Graham and Jim O’Connor serve in places one, three and five respectively.
Those elected to the city council will hold office for a period of two years.
Monday, Jan. 16
Local schools, Bee Cave City Hall, Lakeway City Hall closed today
In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, students in Eanes, Lake Travis and Leander ISDs do not have class on Monday. However, Leander ISD staff is scheduled for a staff development day.
Bee Cave and Lakeway city offices will also be closed for the holiday and will reopen Tuesday morning.
Rollingwood and West Lake Hills city halls will remain open today.

Lakeway City Council meeting moved to Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
Due to the holiday, Lakeway City Council will meet Tuesday at Lakeway City Hall, 1102 Lohmans Crossing Road, Lakeway.
The council is scheduled to discuss a possible amendment to the city's code regarding short-term rentals. The meeting agenda can be found

Lake Travis ISD set to approve 2017-18 instructional calendar and legislative priorities
The LTISD Board of Trustees will meet Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the Educational Development Center, 607 N. RR 620, Austin.
The board will vote on the 2017-18 school calendar. Classes are scheduled to begin Aug. 16 and end May 25, 2018, in the proposed calendar. The earlier-than-usual start date is a result of LTISD becoming a district of innovation last month.
LTISD is also scheduled to approve six legislative priorities related to state funding of public schools.

Pizzeria Sorellina to open Wednesday evening in Spicewood
Pizzeria Sorellina, a sister restaurant to Apis Restaurant & Apiary, will open Wednesday at 5 p.m. at 23526 W. Hwy. 71, Spicewood. Pizzeria Sorellina will offer traditional Italian pizzas in an open and casual setting.
Rollingwood City Council will meet Wednesday for the first time in 2017
Rollingwood City Council will receive an update on the MoPac South Project from appointed city representatives and discuss the possibility of crafting a letter to the Texas Department of Transportation, Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority, and the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization about the city's stance on elements of the project.

Special Needs Forum will discuss supplemental security income Thursday
Special Needs Forum, a resource for families who are impacted by those with special needs, will offer a free discussion and Q&A about supplemental security income and the application process. The forum will be held from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at the New York Life Building, 6200 Bridgepoint Parkway, Austin.
