West Lake Hills City Council appointed resident Beth South to the city’s zoning and planning commission on Wednesday.
South, who served as an interim city council member within the last year, said she enjoyed the experience she gained on the council and was interested in continuing to serve the community.
“We have worked with Beth in the last year up until Rhonda [McCollough] replaced her,” Mayor Linda Anthony said. “Beth’s 40-year residency in West Lake Hills and ability to work as part of a team will serve us well.”
South will be replacing Eric Erickson, who served on ZAPCO for six years and submitted his resignation Sept. 7.
“He served the city well,” Anthony said of Erickson. “He’s got a lot of other commitments, has less time to serve on ZAPCO and thought it would be a good time to let someone else learn about the city.”
Anthony said the council received four applications for the position, and, after an executive session at Wednesday's meeting, the council chose South.
