The Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization will meet with Rollingwood Mayor Thom Farrell and City Administrator Charles Winfield in January to discuss the city’s concerns about the proposed MoPac South project configurations, Winfield said.

“I think [CAMPO] mainly wants to talk to us about our citizens’ concerns and comments,” Winfield said. “Some of our citizens submitted comments [in addition to the letter].”
The city opposes elevated lanes because of concerns over aesthetics, degradation of Rollingwood property values, and noise and light pollution, Farrell stated in the Nov. 18 letter to state and federal highway administrative agencies.
The letter offered recommendations for the project, including further consideration of high- occupancy vehicle, or HOV, lanes instead of toll lanes, and a plan with two express lanes in each direction and no elevated direct-connect lanes.
“I don’t think any major decisions will come from [this meeting],” Winfield said. “But they are responding, and we appreciate that.”
