As we start 2023, here’s a look at six new fitness centers that opened near the Lake Travis and Westlake area in the last year. The centers provide numerous options, including pilates, cycling, martial arts and jiu-jitsu.

1. Club Pilates opened in Steiner Ranch late spring at 3810 N. Quinlan Park Road, Austin. The Pilates studio uses reformer machines that add resistance to Pilates moves. The studio has 12 stations, each with its own reformer machine, Pilates Exo Chair and other essential Pilates equipment. 512-368-7452

2. The infrared fitness studio Hotworx opened a new location in the Shops at the Galleria at 12801 Shops Parkway, Ste. 300, Bee Cave, in May. Hotworx is a virtually instructed exercise program that combines the benefits of infrared heat absorption with a variety of sauna workouts available 24/7 to members. The studio offers 30-minute isometric workouts for up to three members or 15-minute high intensity interval training sessions for two to three members. 512-790-8295

3. Premier Martial Arts opened at Steiner Ranch at 5145 N. RM 620, Ste. B-120, Austin in the fall. The school specializes in teaching children and adults self-defense, fitness and character development through a curriculum combining styles of taekwondo, krav maga and kickboxing. 737-205-4304

4. Restorative Fitness opened Sept. 13 at 300 Beardsley Lane, Ste. C201, Austin. The studio offers private training in the Gyrotonic method, a movement method that stimulates the nervous system, which helps to improve range of motion and increase strength. Jill Carlucci, the owner of Restorative Fitness, said she assists clients of all ages in leading a more active, movement-based life. The studio is located inside Westlake Chiropractic. 512-222-9716


5. Jiu-jitsu training hub Six Blades Jiu Jitsu Lake Travis opened in June in the Oak Grove Plaza at 1501 N. RM 620, Ste. B, Lakeway. Instruction is led by Victor Hugo and Steve Hargett, who are both well-accomplished martial artists and International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation world champions. The practice offers martial arts instruction to people of all ages and skill levels with the goal of building a community of strong kids and adults that feel confident, prepared and safe. 512-436-8177

6. YogaSix opened a new location in the Hill Country Galleria late December at 12800 Hill Country Blvd., Ste. G-130, Bee Cave. The studio has six different class types for all levels of experience led by trained teachers. 512-886-3259
