Lake Travis Community Library West has been included in American Libraries Magazine’s 2025 Library Design Showcase, according to a news release from the library.
The overview
The showcase is hosted every year by American Libraries and is designed to celebrate new or renovated libraries across North America.
Lake Travis Community Library West, located at 21209 State Hwy. 71, was recognized for a “radical reimagining” of its space, according to the news release.
“Renovations at the Lake Travis West location highlight the area’s unique country character while paying homage to the building’s previous life as a pizza restaurant,” American Libraries state on the showcase webpage. “Open-table seating and pendant lights maintain the pizza-joint vibe, and the former drive-through window is now a pickup spot for reserved materials.”
American Libraries also noted the library’s repurposed outdoor dining area, which features a covered patio with hanging lights, fans, shades and wi-fi to provide an accessible workspace.
The details
Lake Travis Community Library thanked its volunteers, donors, committee members and the Lake Travis Community Library District board of trustees for supporting its $4.6 million renovation process.
Ascension Architecture owner Brandi McDaniel was also recognized by the library for contributing a new vision for the space.
