Members of Lakeway City Council and the Lakeway Arts Committee helped unveil “The Game,” a large sculpture situated at 104 Cross Creek Drive that depicts two abstract figures playing chess.

"Many locations were looked at and considered, but this seemed to be the most accessible," Lakeway Arts Committee Chair Janet Wright said of the grassy knoll at the intersection of Lohmans Crossing Road and Cross Creek Drive. "And it is [a location] that can be grown upon. This location on Google Maps is known as Hurst Creek Sculpture Gardens."

The installation is a five-piece sculpture by artist Robert Holmes, who died two years ago. Former owners John and Judy Hogge donated the sculpture to the city, and the Lakeway Arts Committee voted to accept the pieces, according to city documents. City Council accepted the statue, valued at $150,000, during its July 16 meeting.

The Hogges were also present for the official unveiling.
