Due in large part to a project that saw several volunteers from a local service group aid in a citywide fire-prevention effort in Lakeway’s Hamilton Greenbelt, Mayor Sandy Cox proclaimed Jan. 21 “Young Men’s Service League Cavalier’s Chapter Day” in Lakeway.
The proclamation specifically recognizes a four-day stint of volunteering from the YMSL Lake Travis chapter, during which the group’s volunteers assisted the Lake Travis Fire Department in removing 17 tons of logs and dead brush to reduce the fuel load in the greenbelt.
The YMSL Cavalier’s Chapter was founded in 2015 and draws its membership from Lake Travis High School students and their mothers.
