Austin Radiological Association announced it is partnering with California-based Radiology Partners, which will allow ARA to "stay at the forefront of service and clinical innovation," according to a news release.

ARA has 17 imaging centers and serves 20 hospitals in Austin and Central Texas. With 113 radiologists, it is one of the largest radiology groups in the U.S., according to a news release. It was founded in 1954.

The two practices announced the partnership in January and finalized the agreement in mid-February.

ARA President Dr. Greg Connor said ARA has always aimed to be on the leading edge of innovation.

"The industry is changing rapidly and partnering with RP will help us stay at the forefront of service and clinical innovation," he said in the news release. "As the practice of radiology evolves, this partnership will help ensure that we continue to provide outstanding care to our patients and hospital partners. Importantly, RP’s mission and values align with our own, and support ARA’s vision for the future of radiology.”

Radiology Partners consists of 1,200 radiologists in 18 states. The practice serves 850 hospitals in the U.S. and is the largest physician-led and -owned radiology group.

"ARA maintains long-standing relationships with two of the nation’s largest health systems and brings outstanding clinical and administrative expertise to our growing team," Radiology Partners Chairman and CEO Rich Whitney said in a news release.
