CommUnityCare President and CEO George Miller will resign in February after telling the organization’s board of directors Oct. 10 he plans to move back to his home state of Ohio where his three children live. “One of the most challenging things in life is to know when to say goodbye and move on to new opportunities,” Miller said in a news release. "I have decided now is the time to step aside and make way for new leadership to continue the work of guiding CommUnityCare’s work to create a stronger network of value-based care for those who need our services.” Carolyn Konecny, the organization’s chief financial officer, will serve as acting CEO until a successor is hired. Miller’s decision comes after Central Health President and CEO Patricia Young Brown said Oct. 5 that she plans to leave her position as the head of Travis County’ public health district at the end of 2016. CommUnityCare is a federally qualified health center affiliated with Central Health. It was created in 1970 through a partnership between Austin City Council and Travis County Commissioners Court to provide primary health care, dental care and family-planning services in Travis County. Today, the organization serves about 91,000 patients. Miller, the CEO since 2013, will serve his last day in the position Feb. 7.
