More surgical patients will be able to receive care at St. David’s Georgetown Hospital as the facility upgrades technology, CEO Hugh Brown said.
Hospital leaders are working to bring in specialty surgeons who have previously had patients travel to Austin.
“Now that we have technology equal to what is available at much larger hospitals, these surgeons are planning to keep patients in Georgetown,” Brown said in an email.
This comes as St. David’s Georgetown marked its 1,000th procedure with the Da Vinci Surgical Robot in late 2022, which allows doctors to perform minimally invasive surgeries.
