Georgetown ISD rezones Wolf Ranch Elementary to relieve overcrowding in 2026-27

Students who are rezoned to Frost and San Gabriel will attend Tippit Middle School and East View High School, Heflin said.

Meanwhile, Wolf Ranch's enrollment will decrease by more than 250 students. With an enrollment of 947 students, the campus is currently over its 850-student capacity by almost 100 students, district data shows.

GISD staff plan to notify affected families of their new school assignment before spring break, Heflin said.

Families may complete a transfer application to remain at their current school or transfer to another campus. Incoming fifth graders and their siblings will be given priority consideration to stay at Wolf Ranch, Heflin said.

GISD was planning to rezone students districtwide ahead of the opening of Ames Elementary and Middle School No. 5 in August. However, at a Feb. 2 board meeting, Superintendent Devin Padavil announced his decision to delay opening the campuses until the 2027-28 school year.

Padavil's decision comes after the district received new demographic data projecting enrollment growth will slow. Going forward, the district may consider opening enrollment to students living outside of the district's boundaries.
