Forbes Middle School fine arts renovation, weight room addition design contract approved
The renovation of fine arts spaces and addition of a weight room to the Forbes Middle School campus will soon enter the design phase after Georgetown ISD officials approved architectural design fees for the project in February.
What happened
GISD trustees approved a design agreement with PBK Architects for the project Feb. 17, and will pay the firm $248,857 as a percentage of construction costs. Trustees approved the agreement as part of the board's consent agenda, and did not discuss the contract individually prior to approval.

A new performing arts center and refreshed field house is one step closer to reality for East View High School after Georgetown ISD officials approved engineering and architect contracts for the project in February.

Demographer estimates new charter school's impact to Georgetown ISD this fall
With a new charter school set to open in August, Georgetown ISD demographer Bob Templeton, of Zonda Education, provided an outlook for how it could impact enrollment this fall.
While the school's total capacity at opening will be 750 students, Templeton said he estimates the impact to be about 350 students zoned for GISD leaving the district.
In a nutshell
When Harmony Science Academy Georgetown opens this fall, it will bring the total number of charter schools in Georgetown to three, joining Gateway College Preparatory School and Goodwater Montessori.
The school will serve kindergarten through sixth grade, adding a grade level each year, said Tracie Seed, Central Texas director of communication and marketing for Harmony Public Schools, with the plan to serve kindergarten through 12th grade.
