Three Georgetown ISD board seats will appear on the May 3 ballot after trustees called for an election in January.

What you need to know

The district will hold a board election May 3, after trustees approved an order calling the election Jan. 22.

The filing period to appear on the ballot opened Jan. 15, and will close Feb. 14.

As previously reported by Community Impact, GISD board of trustee positions 1, 2 and 3 are slated to be on the May ballot. These positions are currently held by:
  • Place 1: James Scherer, who was first elected to the GISD board in 2022
  • Place 2: Elizabeth McFarland, who was first elected to the GISD board in 2019
  • Place 3: Cody Hirt, who was first elected to the GISD board in 2022
Trustees serve three-year terms and are elected at-large, meaning they represent the entire district and can live anywhere within the district.

Applications for a place on the ballot should be returned to the Hammerlun Center for Leadership and Learning at 507 E. University Ave., Georgetown.

  • April 3: deadline to register to vote in the May election
  • April 22: first day of early voting
  • April 22: deadline to apply for a ballot by mail
  • April 29: last day of early voting
  • May 3: election day
