Georgetown ISD employees interested in becoming teachers will have another opportunity to be part of the district's grow-your-own program this month.

What you need to know

The application for the 2025-26 cohort of the Georgetown Recognizes & Elevates Aspiring Teachers program will open Dec. 13, district administrators shared in a Dec. 2 board of trustees workshop.

Administrators said the next cohort of GREAT participants will add 10 educators to the program.

About the program

The Georgetown Recognizes & Elevates Aspiring Teachers program will be specifically offered to current full-time paraprofessionals within the district, administrators shared in April, when the program was announced. Administrators said this will also act as an incentive to backfill paraprofessional positions as they complete the program and move into the classroom.

The details

In partnership with Indiana Wesleyan University, GISD's GREAT program will help staff obtain their bachelor's degrees, as well as their teaching certifications, while employed with the district, if they do not already have a degree.

The only cost to participants will be their exam and certification, administrators said.
