Georgetown ISD held a public opening for its $97 million Future Ready Learning Complex Sept. 10, celebrating the finish out of the facility which houses career and technical education, the district's 18-plus special education program, the Georgetown ISD Health & Wellness Center and Richarte High School.

About the project

A project of the 2021 bond, the FRLC centralizes multiple programs in the district and expands access to them, CTE director Bretton Schulz said.

The complex comes in at 241,209 square feet of space, most of which is flexible use.

For the advanced CTE programs, these custom spaces include an automotive shop; a cosmetology and barbering lab with room for 48 students to be working at once; two full-size commercial kitchens for the culinary arts program; and hospital labs, Schulz said.

What they're saying

"The school is more than just a building," Schulz said. "It's a space where dreams are going to come true, challenges will be overcome and lifelong relationships will be formed."
