Several projects funded by the 2021 bond are nearing completion in Georgetown ISD, district staff shared during an August board workshop.

How we got here

In 2021, Georgetown voters approved two of three bond propositions, authorizing the district to issue $333.42 million in bonds for school facilities and capital improvement as well as $16.5 million in bonds for technology infrastructure and equipment.

The funding allowed the district to begin construction on new schools and the Future-Ready Learning Center last year. Now, the district is preparing to open three new campuses in time for the upcoming school year.

In a nutshell

The FRLC, the new Benold Middle School and San Gabriel Elementary School are all set to open in the next few weeks, said Melinda Brasher, GISD's executive director for communications and community engagement, during the Aug. 5 workshop.

The district has set ribbon-cutting and grand opening celebrations for these campuses in the next few weeks:
  • 4 p.m. Aug 12 at Benold Middle School, 1401 N. Parmer Ranch Blvd., Georgetown
  • 5 p.m. Aug. 13 at San Gabriel Elementary School, 880 Tierra Rosa Blvd., Liberty Hill
  • 5 p.m. Sept. 10 at the Future Ready Learning Complex and Early Learning Center, 5001 Airport Road, Georgetown
Similar celebrations will be held at the Georgetown High School Agriculture Barn later this fall, staff said.

About the project

The new elementary and middle schools will help address growth needs of the district, officials have said, relieving capacity issues at other schools within the district.

When the FRLC opens in September, it will host much of the district's career and technology programming; Richarte High School; and the district's over-18 special education services program, Bridges.
