Georgetown ISD holds grand opening for East View High School agriculture barn Nov. 6

Georgetown ISD held a grand opening celebration for East View High School's new agriculture barn Nov. 6.

What's happening?

The grand opening was held Nov. 6 from 5-7 p.m. at East View High School, 4490 E. University Ave., Georgetown, in the new agriculture barn.

Students and sponsors of GISD's agriculture program began moving pigs, sheep and goats from the old barn located at Georgetown High School to the new barn at East View High School on Oct. 18. A project of the 2021 bond, voters approved the use of $10.3 million for the construction of the two barns. The new agriculture barn at EVHS is double the size of the older GHS barn at 80 pens, which will allow for the program to accommodate more students who do not already have a place to keep their animals at home, said Bretton Schultz, GISD's career and technical education director.
