The Georgetown ISD board of trustees approved school meal rates for the 2022-23 school year at its meeting July 18.

GISD school lunches have been free since November 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, the congressional waivers that made school lunches free will expire statewide June 30.

All meal rates are set by the Texas Department of Agriculture using its Paid Lunch Equity tool, according to GISD.

Additionally, the TDA has given the recommendation of a $0.26 per meal increase with a minimum of a $0.10 per meal increase.

GISD meals will increase $0.10, according to the district.

This makes the elementary student meals cost $3 and the secondary student meals $3.25.
