LaToya Easter was named the new principal of East View High School on June 17.

The Georgetown ISD board of trustees approved the hiring of Easter during its regular monthly meeting.

Previously, Easter served as principal at Four Points Middle School in Leander for the past year, where she was responsible for managing all aspects of the campus, including creating a positive learning environment for staff and students and monitoring and evaluating the advancement of student achievement, GISD Superintendent Fred Brent said.

Prior to that, she served as an associate principal in Round Rock, an assistant principal at Rouse High School in Leander, and as an English teacher, head basketball coach and administrator in Alvin ISD, he said.

As principal, Easter will collaboratively manage all campus operations and lead campus instructional programs to ensure high standards of instruction and student achievement while leading students in the growth of the Learner Profile, Brent said.

The position became available after former EVHS Principal Dave Denny was named the GISD director of federal and state programs.

Easter will begin July 1.
