Cajun restaurant Gumbo’s North growing with Georgetown, according to owner

“We do better every month from the year before,” Page said.

The Pages have even taken on the challenge of operating a food truck at The Circuit of The Americas racetrack in South Austin as well as other off-site catering services, offering items off the Gumbo’s menu as well as other choices for weddings, rehearsal dinners, parties and corporate events.

Gumbo’s has also expanded its menu and operating hours. It offers a brunch and is open the same hours every day. Before, the restaurant used to be closed between lunch and dinner.

The Georgetown location will also undergo renovations to the upstairs bar, where the couple will install an additional bar and bring in new seating arrangements to create a lounge. Page said she hopes to have the new seating area completed by Valentine’s Day.

Housed in a historic former Masonic lodge, Gumbo’s features live music every night, and the landlord of the building plans on expanding the outside balcony.

Since the location in Georgetown opened, steak has come out on top as the restaurant’s top menu item, followed by salmon—an indicator of the wide variety of offerings, Page said.

“People think, ‘Oh, you’re Cajun, I can’t go there, everything must be spicy,’” she said. “That’s a fallacy.”

Page said the growth of downtown Georgetown has led to an increase in customers for other businesses, too.

“We wish we had moved here long before we did,” she said.
