According to a release from Williamson County, the office of Justice of the Peace Pct. 3 will be closed Oct. 13 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. for a special function.

The release noted that the office’s dropbox—located adjacent to the building’s south door at 100 Wilco Way, Georgetown—would be available during that time.

WilCo Regional Animal Shelter focuses on Texas Big Dog Campaign

Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter and Best Friends Animal Society are teaming up for the Texas Big Dog Campaign during the month of October to encourage Texans to adopt or foster dogs weighing 40 pounds or more, according to a release from the county.

Adoption fees are just $4 at WCRAS through Oct. 31 (subject to change). The adoption fee includes all age-appropriate vaccinations, spay or neuter and microchip registration. Adopters will also receive a Texas-branded bandana.


“WCRAS is committed to finding a positive outcome for every animal who is brought to us,” WCRAS Animal Services Director Misty Valenta said in the release. “Through this statewide initiative, we hope to see more of our medium and large adult dogs find loving new homes than ever before.”

Learn to Fish Day is Oct. 9 at Leander park

Williamson County is scheduled to host its annual Learn to Fish Day at Southwest Williamson County Regional Park in Leander Oct. 9 from 8 a.m.-Noon.

The event is free and open to the public and children in attendance will be able to learn a variety of fishing techniques from local anglers.
