The Williamson County Commissioners Court set the public hearing for the fiscal year 2019-20 budget for Aug. 27.

The public hearing is set to begin at 10 a.m.

The hearing allows community members to bring comments or concerns to the court. But Precinct 3 Commissioner Valerie Covey said the court plans to discuss the budget throughout the month of August, and residents are encouraged to come and speak to the court earlier in the month rather than wait, as the commissioners will vote on a final budget Aug. 27 following the public hearing.

“I want to make sure the public is aware that we are discussing the budget throughout the month of August and the public can communicate with us at any point,” Covey said. “[Aug. 27] is the last day, and we are going to vote on a budget that day, so for [residents] to wait to come and comment I think is past the point.”

The court holds regular meetings every Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at 710 Main St., Georgetown. Those who wish to speak before the court can do so during the public comment portion of the meeting.
