Updated Feb. 16 at 3:47 p.m.: Ridavel Ortego withdrew her application Friday for Georgetown ISD Place 7, according to the district. With Friday set as the deadline to file for candidacy in this year's Georgetown City Council and Georgetown ISD board of trustees elections, voters have their initial look at candidates who will be on the ballot during the May 5 election. As of 2:40 p.m. Friday, three candidates had filed for Georgetown City Council and five candidates had filed for Georgetown ISD board of trustees.

Georgetown City Council

The council has seven members, each elected from individual districts, who adopt the city’s annual budget, enact local legislation and set city policies. Council members are elected to three-year terms. Districts 1 and 5 are up for election this year.
  • District 1 Mary Calixtro, filed Jan. 31 Anna Eby, filed Jan. 31 (incumbent)
  • District 5 Kevin Pitts, filed Jan. 4 (incumbent Ty Gipson is not running for re-election)
A drawing to determine the order of candidate names on the ballot will be held at 4 p.m. Feb. 23 at City Hall, 113 E. Eighth St., Georgetown. Early voting for City Council races will run from April 23-May 1.

Georgetown ISD board of trustees

GISD's board of trustees is made up of seven members who serve three-year terms. Trustees are elected at-large by voters. Places 6 and 7 are up for election this year.
  • Place 6 Marcos A. Gonzales Stevie Nicole Jones (incumbent Greg Eady is not running for re-election)
  • Place 7 Benjamin Stewart (incumbent) Jacquita Wilson Georgetown ISD has not yet scheduled a time or date for its ballot position drawing.
