A countywide burn ban was postponed for the second time at Tuesday's Williamson County Commissioners Court meeting. The burn ban was a topic of discussion at the Jan. 10 meeting but was put on hold due to rain in the forecast. Jarred Thomas, Williamson County's emergency management coordinator, said although the ban did not need to be implemented today, it should stay on future meeting agendas for a while longer. "We have had quite a bit of rain over the last few days," Thomas said. "It has been very beneficial, but one cold front and it is all going to dry out." County Judge Dan Gattis pointed out that he has the ability to implement a burn ban at anytime during an emergency situation that could later be approved by the court. As of 10:24 a.m. on Jan. 17, 58 other Texas counties had a burn ban in effect.
