The Williamson County Commissioners Court approved a proposed maximum property tax rate of $0.481529 per $100 of property valuation at its Aug. 16 meeting.

The amount is the maximum rate that can be adopted by the commissioners on Sep. 13, when they are expected to adopt the official tax rate for Williamson County.

During the meeting Commissioner Lisa Birkman said the rate was the maximum tax rate and that further discussions on the proposed budget and property tax rate would continue for the next several weeks.

The commissioners also approved two public hearings on the property tax rate for Aug. 30 and Sep. 6. at 10 a.m.

Budget modification hearings will take place Aug. 17 at 8:30 a.m. and Aug. 23 at 1 p.m. During these hearings commissioners can add and delete items from the budget before it is officially adopted Aug. 30.
