Council annexes land for proposed grocery store siteGeorgetown City Council approved annexing 11.17 acres at the southwest corner of the intersection of Jim Hogg Road and Williams Drive at its May 10 meeting.

Georgetown Planning Director Sofia Nelson said developers are seeking to rezone the property to be used as a grocery store. The rezoning request will be brought to council at a future meeting, she said.

Residents in nearby neighborhoods, including Fountainwood and The Woods at Fountainwood, protested the proposed development citing concerns about traffic on Jim Hogg, which is the only road leading into and out of their neighborhood.
