Canada-based Willowbrae Childcare Academy opened its first U.S. location in Georgetown on June 30, according to a news release from the school.

The details

The facility offers programs and curriculum for infants, toddlers and preschoolers, as well as before- and after-school care and camps for school-aged children.

The academy uses three programs—Willowbrae Young Scholars, Body Break Kid Fit and Willowbrae Creative Kids—to guide learning and play, according to its website.

The context

The company said by opening facilities in the U.S., it aims to address a shortage of affordable child care options.

“The U.S. market lacks innovative child care options that blend innovative technology, an enriched education curriculum, with a comprehensive measuring and reporting system for parents,” Willowbrae Academy CEO Shawn Pattison said in the release. “By adding this much needed value, Willowbrae Academy is redefining child care by bringing quality options to local communities across the U.S.—starting with Georgetown.”

Willowbrae Academy has plans to expand in Houston, Austin, Dallas and Fort Worth before moving into other U.S. states.
