Haji Moto Ramen & Sake Bar is expected to open this summer, General Manger Adam Simms said in an email.

The gist

Owned by Jerry Thompson and Yusuke Iwai, the local spot will serve up authentic ramen with housemade noodles, chicken karaage and gyoza, Simms said. Customers may also enjoy Japanese cocktails, sake and whiskey, he said.

The restaurant will replace Mango Tango Bistro and Bar, which opened in Georgetown in 2020, according to previous Community Impact reporting.

What else?

The Georgetown Arts and Culture Advisory Board met on March 18 to discuss a proposed mural design, which is expected to be painted on the side of the new restaurant.

Brother-and-sister team Andrew Sakamoto and Victoria Kiyoko will paint the mural as part of the AAPI Heroes Mural Campaign which features the impact Asian American and Pacific Islanders have had on the U.S. through a mural series.

The mural art at Haji Moto Ramen & Sake Bar will honor Sakamoto and Kiyoko’s Japanese American heritage with a painting of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, as stated on the meeting agenda.
