What’s happening?
The Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and the Georgetown Rotary Club launched a 5 Under Forty program to highlight the achievements of five young professionals working in Georgetown.
Candidates should demonstrate leadership skills, have made an impact on their company or community, show dedication to their career and display a passion for Georgetown, according to a news release.
“We are looking for individuals who are rising stars showing leadership, demonstrating continued success and making a positive impact in their work and where they live,” Georgetown Rotary President Gary Brown stated in the release.
How it works
Nomination forms can be found here and should be emailed along with a headshot to [email protected] by March 6.
The five winners will be recognized at a Georgetown Rotary awards luncheon April 25 at noon at First United Methodist Church. A candidate’s inability to attend the awards ceremony immediately disqualifies them from the program, per the release.
The conditions
It is recommended for candidates to be with their current organization for at least a year and have achieved workplace milestones in the past two years. According to the release, nominees should:
- Be under the age of 40 as of Dec. 31, 2025
- Be employed within the Georgetown area
- Receive one to three letters of recommendation from a direct supervisor, city official, board chair or chief executive officer in their company
Only one nominee per small business will be considered, while up to two nominees from organizations with over 500 employees will be considered, if they’re from different departments, per the release. Multiple nominations will not impact the program’s selection, and self-nominations are welcome.
One more thing
Professionals who work in Georgetown but do not live in the city will still be considered, an official said in an email to Community Impact. The program’s full criteria can be found on the nomination form.
“Georgetown is full of emerging young professionals who are leaders in our community,” Georgetown Chamber President Shontel Mays stated in the release. “This program gives us the opportunity to honor those who are making Georgetown what it is.”
