GAF Energy opened a solar roofing manufacturing center in Georgetown in November.

The 450,000-square-foot facility will produce Timberline Solar shingles and is expected to be fully operational by the end of the year. The company will employ more than 250 people in Georgetown and has hired over 75 people this year. Over the next 10 years, GAF Energy will invest more than $100 million into the project.

The Georgetown facility will increase increase GAF Energy’s capacity by 500% and allow for the production of 300 megawatts of solar shingles each year, making GAF Energy the world's largest solar roofing producer, a GAF Energy spokesperson said.

GAF Energy opened in its first manufacturing facility in San Jose, California, in 2021.
