Mays has been serving as the president and CEO of the Pflugerville Chamber of Commerce for the past four years. Her accomplishments include increasing membership involvement, relationship building and tourism efforts, according to the release.
Additionally, during the pandemic, Mays successfully established the Pflugerville Pfund, a grant program to help sustain small businesses, the release said.
“Shontel is the right fit for our chamber and our community, and we are thrilled to welcome her,” Board Chair Karin Sladek said in the release. “Shontel understands the challenges that our growing community faces and is skilled at building community and consensus among stakeholders. She brings energy and fresh ideas that align with our mission and vision, and I can’t wait for her to get started.”
Mays’ experience as a chamber leader spans nearly two decades, including leadership roles in Pflugerville, Round Rock and the Lufkin/Angelina County Chamber of Commerce, according to the release. She has also served in development roles for the Ascension Seton Williamson Foundation and the March of Dimes Central Texas.
