Beginning April 15, the Georgetown Arts and Culture Board is accepting artist entries for the project. Mural designs should relate to the purpose of the shelter by addressing the rescue and adoption of pets, city documents said. The opportunity is open to all professional artists over age 18.
A $4,000 stipend will be paid to the artist selected. The city will also fund the cost of materials and equipment necessary to install the mural, documents said. The artist will be responsible for their own travel costs, housing and personal liability insurance.
The mural is to be completed by Sept. 15.
Applications can be submitted here from April 15-May 31. From the entries submitted, the Arts and Culture Board will select up to three submissions for consideration and final selection by the Georgetown Animal Shelter staff. Artists will be notified of the final selection by mid-July.
