The Georgetown Film Festival and Conference has been postponed to June due to novel coronavirus concerns, Executive Director Cindy Weigand said in an email March 11.

"With the cancellation of SXSW and news of the coronavirus, we have been concerned for the safety of visitors to the city and the influx of people that will be in town for the Red Poppy Festival that coincides with the Georgetown Film Festival and Conference," the email read.

The event will now be held June 11-13. It was previously scheduled for April 23-25.

The weekend-long event is in its second year and showcases national and international films, as well as hosts panels by local industry experts.
