The Bee Cave, Lakeway and Sunset Valley police departments jointly held the inaugural Peace Officers Memorial Day observance May 15 at the Bee Cave Police Department, 1333-A W. Hwy. 71.

BCPD officers Ryan Halley and Joe Reid, LPD Sgt. Jason Brown and SVPD Lt. Rich Andreucci began the event with a flag ceremony and an invocation by BCPD Chaplain Jim Roquemore.

“All law enforcement officers have worked in agencies with those who have lost their lives in the line of duty,” Bee Cave Police Chief Gary Miller said. “We are asking those members to take a moment to remember the [officers] we’ve lost.”

LPD Capt. David Crowder said he reflected on LPD Sgt. Chris Doles, who died on RR 620 in 2013.

“The [ceremony] is a time to reflect on our lives, our jobs and why we chose this profession,” said Chief Deputy Anthony Johnson of Travis County Precinct 3.
