Lake Travis High School senior Santiago Vega and his mother, Cynthia Vega, died from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident Monday morning on West Hwy. 71 near Spicewood, Principal Gordon Butler stated in a news release.
Funeral services for both will be held at Wilcox Funeral Home, 1805 US 281, Marble Falls, beginning at 4 p.m., Dec. 2, said Marco Alvarado, Lake Travis ISD director of communications.

“Please be assured that assisting students is our main concern during this difficult time,” Butler stated in the release. “In order to help them cope with this horrific incident, we have arranged for our district counselors to be on the LTHS campus during the week, as needed.”
He stated that “teens process loss in many different ways” and advised parents their child may want to speak with them about the incident, spend time with friends, talk to someone else or do something to honor Santiago.
“Most importantly, be ready to listen,” Butler stated and encouraged parents to contact their child’s school counselor with any concerns.
