Although the Concordia University Texas softball team lost to Louisiana College with scores of 5-2 and 4-2 on Feb. 12, the Lady Tornadoes celebrated with family, friends and school staff as they took the field.

The season home opener marked the first time the Four Points-area college had a home field for its players. Construction on the NCAA-regulation field began in 2013 and was completed at the end of 2015.

The new stadium also includes grandstands, dugouts and parking.

Future building plans include grandstand covers and a 12,000-square-foot athletic facility that will house locker rooms, training areas, a weight room and offices, Concordia President and CEO Don Christian said.

“There was a feeling of immense pride that so many had the opportunity to witness Concordia University Texas history,” Athletic Director Ronda Seagraves said. “The players, both current and alums, and a dedicated coaching staff now have a top, premier facility to call home every day. Campus administrators and facility folks who took part in the fundraising efforts and field design got to see a concept become a reality. Lastly, it was a great feeling to see a campus community come together to show support for our team as they took the field for the first time.”
