AustinISD_redAustin ISD will begin taking requests for 2016-17 school year student transfers Jan. 4. AISD will be processing priority transfers first, such as transfers for siblings, followed by general transfers. All transfer requests will be given equal consideration, regardless of when the request was submitted, according to AISD. After Jan. 29, all requests will be considered non-priority, according to AISD. Out-of-district transfer requests may be submitted started Feb. 1. Transfers may not be accepted if the family wants to bring the student to a “frozen” school, AISD spokesperson Jacob Barrett said. A frozen school means the school is over capacity and it is not accepting more students, he added. The AISD board of trustees will vote on which schools will be deemed frozen for the 2016-17 school year at its Dec. 14 scheduled meeting. Families can request a priority transfer at a frozen school as long as the request is submitted from Jan. 4-29, he said. Requests may be submitted to the Office of Student Services, Carruth Administration Center, 1111 W. Sixth St., Room A-200, from 7:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Call the Office of Student Services at 512-414-1726 or go to www.austinisd.org/transfer for more information.
