The Austin ISD board of trustees held a ceremonial swearing-in for newly appointed District 7 trustee Yasmin Wagner, the newly appointed board representative for Southwest Austin.
During the Oct. 12 board of trustees meeting, Wagner was sworn in by former trustee board president, vice president and secretary Nan Clayton, who served from 1978 to 1992 and is the namesake of Clayton Elementary School in Southwest Austin.
Wagner was already sworn in Sept. 29, the day after trustees voted 7-0 with one abstention to appoint her. She participated as a trustee during the Oct. 5 board meeting.
Wagner assumes a term that lasts until Nov. 8, 2016, the date when multiple board of trustees positions will be reelected, including the District 7 seat.
The appointment of Wagner fills a board vacancy following the July 28 death of former District 7 trustee Robert Schneider.
