Westlake High School was notified Sept. 9 that 28 of its senior students were chosen as semifinalists in the 2015-16 National Merit Scholarship Program, Communications Director Claudia McWhorter said.
The semifinalists were selected as the highest-scoring juniors taking the preliminary SAT test in 2014.
Nationally, 16,000 semifinalists will be competing for 7,600 academic scholarships valued at more than $33 million.
