The Pflugerville Chamber of Commerce announced the recipients of its 2015 scholarship program June 3.

Three Pflugerville high school students were selected for the $1,000 scholarships, which are awarded to seniors pursuing a degree in business, according to the Chamber.

Victoria Mendosa, Kennedy Redd and Logan Taylor were recognized during senior award ceremonies at their respective schools, according to the Chamber.

On May 29, two Park Crest Middle School students were honored as grand prize winners of the third annual SouthWest Water Company Writing Contest.

SouthWest, which provides water and wastewater services in Pflugerville, opened the essay contest to Pflugerville middle school students and selected six winners.

Coby Sims and Audrey Vaughan, who are seventh-graders at Park Crest, each received a grand prize of $250 for their winning essay, “How Water Affects the World.”

“We were thrilled to see so many students participate and to read inspiring essays describing how water availability impacts students’ lives and the world today,” said Gary Rose, SouthWest Water director of operations, in a statement.“It has been a pleasure to provide this contest for the Pflugerville community for the past three years, and we look forward to the same opportunity next year.”
