Central Texas Speedway in Kyle is looking for a new tenant, employees say.

The current leaseholder has a NASCAR team in North Carolina it wants to focus its interest on, said track President Matt Donovan, and chose not to renew its lease in 2017.

As far as a new leaseholder goes, it’s all up in the air at this point, he said. The landowner and a possible tenant are in discussions now. If a lease is awarded, it’s likely the facility would continue to be used for racing and as an event venue.

Central Texas Speedway first launched in 1998, and reopened under new management in 2013. It was formerly known as Thunder Hill Raceway.
