After closing in July 2014 to relocate,
Casa Colombia opened April 21 at a new location after some unexpected delays.
The restaurant opened its doors to patrons at 2409 E. Seventh St. The new location is a few blocks down from the original site, which is now home to Indian restaurant Nasha.
Casa Colombia will continue to serve its Columbian cuisine menu from the same team of chefs and owners, but now has a few more options for both entrees and desserts, said manager Joseph Nunez. The restaurant's former location served beer and wine only and the new Seventh Street location has a full bar available.
The original location offered 15 to 16 tables, while the new location has about 40 tables, outdoor seating and a conference room that patrons can rent out, Nunez said.
COMING SOON—The former space of Uncorked, which closed earlier this year, will now become a pizza restaurant called
Cien Pizzitas, which means to 100 pizzas in English. The eatery will provide 100 different types of pizza made fresh daily with ingredient options from local and Mediterranean influences with a Central Texas twist, said owner Antonio Gonzalez. Gonzalez plans to open Cien Pizzitas at 900 W. Seventh St. in late June with an array of options at an affordable price, he said. Cien Pizzitas is currently an existing franchise in Spain, however the East Austin location will be locally owned by Gonzalez and family.
COMING SOON—Closed for more than two years because of a fire,
Hill-Bert's Burgers will reopen its 5340 Cameron Road location, which first debuted in 1994, according to owner Hilbert Maldonado. Hill-Bert's also has a location on West 35th Street but closed its Burnet Road location last June after the lease was not renewed. 512-371-3717.
COMING SOON—The second brick and mortar location for
Chi'Lantro is slated to open in mid-May, less than five months after the first brick and mortar at 1509 S. Lamar Blvd. opened. The eatery, which began as a food truck, will take over the former home of Man Bites Dog at 5222 Burnet Road and be very similar to the south location, owner Jae Kim said. 512-428-5269.
