WHAT WE REPORTED Austin Java was slated to open a new location in last fall in Dripping Springs. In August the business was finalizing design work and had not yet announced its opening date.
THE LATEST Construction is in progress on the Austin Java restaurant, as well as a smokehouse for housemade bacon, pastrami and smoked meats, and a playscape. The new location is slated to open in February, President Clint Rogers said.
“We are adding new items, and we’re revamping the menu a little bit at all the locations,” he said, noting a chicken-fried steak dinner, shrimp and grits, avocado toast points and appetizers will be among the new additions.
WHAT’S NEXT In the future the same property will also be home to a coffee-roasting facility and a 6,000-square-foot brewery with a tasting room. Office space will be located above the coffee-roasting and brewing facilities. The name for the brewery has not been determined, but those beers will be sold in the restaurant as well after the brewery opens sometime in mid-2017, he said.
“You [will be able to] walk back and forth between the restaurant and the brewery, tour the places, have a beer or have coffee, whatever you want,” he said.
