Coming on the heels of yesterday’s National Taco Day, Torchy’s Tacos staffers confirmed Oct. 5 the restaurant’s new location, 1945 Medical Drive, Ste. 100, Lakeway, in the Oaks at Lakeway, will open Nov. 2. Community Impact Newspaper caught up with Torchy’s Tacos founder and owner Mike Rypka who seemed as hyped about the Austin institution’s newest endeavor as the area’s residents. “We are very excited to come to Lakeway,” Rypka said. “We chose that particular spot based on tons of customer feedback asking us to ‘please, please come to Lakeway.’ It took us awhile to find the right spot so we'd have enough parking and the ability to build a beautiful restaurant.” He said the menu will be the same as the rest of the Torchy’s Tacos restaurants and will feature main course taco options such as green chile pork, fried avocado, chicken fajita and Baja shrimp. The eatery will offer a full service bar including margaritas made in-house. “This will be one of our bigger stores, so it will be roomy and able to accommodate plenty of our loyal fans,” Rypka said.
