A new Italian bakery, cafe and cocktail bar called Numero28 Alimentari is coming soon to Second and San Antonio streets by the owners of Numero28 Pizzeria & Vineria, the Italian restaurant in the same location.
Alimentari is slated to open next door to Numero28 Pizzeria & Vineria in October and will replace the sushi franchise How Do you Roll?, which closed in 2015.
Managing partner Bernardo Nolfo is Italian and said it’s very important that he creates a neighborhood feeling—"like the Italian 'Cheers,' where everybody knows your name," he said—in the new bakery, cafe and cocktail bar.
Alimentari—which means “food” in Italian—will serve traditional Italian pastries and cakes, chocolates and small bites.
Nolfo said the new restaurant is influenced by the aperitivo tradition in Milan, in which happy hour is a long-established custom.
Alimentari will be open for breakfast and lunch, and the cocktail bar in the back of the restaurant will be open until late. There will also be a large patio for outside eating and dining.
Nolfo has owned and managed Numero 28 Pizzeria & Vineria for three years, serving pastas, oven-fired pizzas, paninis, small plates, Italian wines, meats and cheeses and desserts.
