After an “up and down” first few months in business, Grind House Coffee & Cocktails in Kyle will offer new services in 2016, owner James Rios said.

Among the additions planned in the new year are a 1,400-square-foot patio, which will add seating for 40-50 people; a food truck that will offer a variety of food; and a wider selection of beer, Rios said.

“We’re looking to differentiate ourselves from the norm,” he said. “We’re looking at creating our own little niche.”

That niche is a place with a quieter atmosphere amid the bars on Center Street, Rios said.

Rios said he hopes to open the patio by March, and the beer menu in 2016 will include more craft selections than in the past.

The food truck, which will be a separately owned business, will be located on the patio and feature a variety of food offerings daily, Rios said.

He said customers have voiced a desire for a drive-thru, but the cost to develop a drive-thru per city regulations is too high at the moment.
