After five years in business Luigi's Italian Restaurant in Leander is planning to close at the end of August. Owner Genc Krasniqi said he was unable to negotiate lease terms with the landlord and will close the restaurant's doors Aug. 30. “We love and appreciate the support [from our customers] over the years," Krasniqi said. "We regret that we are failing them in a way because we have become a legacy. We are very apologetic for the inconvenience [this creates].” The restaurant, located at 901 Crystal Falls Parkway, Ste. 101, Leander, opened in March 2010 and serves Italian foods including pasta, pizza, sandwiches and calzones. Krasniqi, who is also co-owner of Leander Beer Market, said the beer market's kitchen is too small to carry over the Luigi's menu. However, Krasniqi plans to continue to offer the exisiting foods and services at Leander Beer Market. In the coming months, Krasniqi plans to look for another location for Luigi's, including possibly building his own restaurant, he said. “The support [from customers] has been tremendous," he said. "Luigi’s belongs to the Leander community, and that’s what makes [this] a difficult decision.”
