The Westlake Fire Department, also known as Travis County Emergency Services District No. 9, is moving forward with renovations to its Loop 360 fire station that have been in the works for two years.

West Lake Hills City Council unanimously voted June 22 to approve a site plan and commercial building permit for one of ESD 9’s fire stations, located at 1295 S. Capital of Texas Hwy.

Fire Chief Mike Elliot said the renovations include replacing the air conditioning units, adding additional sleeping quarters, renovating the kitchen to make it more user-friendly and adding a laundry room.

He estimates the renovations will cost less than $200,000 and will be completed in six to 10 weeks.
